The all-new Explore ASK Language Arts Literacy series — now available for grades 3-8 — stimulates responsive strategizing in your students. The workbooks are designed to boost their chances for success on the ASK Language Arts Literacy Test.

Teachers can use these workbooks for more than just test preparation purposes; they can also serve as comprehensive learning tools for students. Since students do not all approach test-taking in the same way, these workbooks have been designed to address a variety of learning styles and abilities.

These books provide students with additional guided instruction and strategy-building exercises in order to help them develop the skills needed to succeed on the ASK Language Arts Literacy Test.

Guided practice is included at the start of each chapter, giving students the opportunity to confidently approach the reading and writing material and develop the skills needed to succeed on the ASK test and in the classroom. These easy-to-follow, guided practice lessons offer real practice, exercises that develop skills, and step-by-step examples.
The relevant New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards appear within each chapter. Students are then presented with concepts related to the targeted clusters, followed by detailed, guided instruction, to better familiarize themselves with the required skills contained within those clusters as well as relevant terminology and representative samples.
The instructional sections are then followed by 3-6 reading passages. Informal assessment checks ("Checking for Understanding") have been built into the passages to allow teachers to gauge student progress while they read. These are excellent topics to open up classroom discussions as the class moves through the workbook together, showing the students the importance of critical thinking and evaluating while they read.
All multiple-choice and open-ended questions have been tailored to align with grade-level specifications and are formatted as they will be seen on the NJ ASK Language Arts Literacy Test. Each multiple-choice question is coupled with a brief hint to help struggling students focus on what the question is asking. The relevant NJCCCS are correlated to each question throughout the book.

In the teacher's edition, the introductory material offers explanations of the NJCCCS standards. Also included are the scoring guidelines, ASK testing specifications, open-ended question rubric and writing rubric, and performance level descriptors.
